V ers. 20.— Tunc surrexit Job. 80. Discretio tentationibus proficit.—Sedere enim, quiescentis est; assurgere, decertantis. Auditis ergo adversis surgere, est expertis tentationibus mentem ad certamina robustius parare. Quibus nimirum ten- tationibus etiam discretio proficit, quia ut virtutes a vitiis subtilius distinguat, agnoscit. Unde et bene subjungitur:
Verse 20. — Then Job arose. 80. Discernment profits by temptations. — For to sit belongs to one at rest; to rise up, to one contending. Therefore, to rise upon hearing of adversities is, being made experienced by temptations, to prepare the mind more robustly for the contests. By these temptations discernment also assuredly profits, because it learns to distinguish more subtly the virtues from the vices. Whence also it is well subjoined.
第二十節。——於是約伯起來。八十、明辨藉試探得益。——因為坐著是安息者的姿態，站起是爭戰者的姿態。因此，聽見逆境便起來，就是因試探得著歷練，更剛強地預備心靈去爭戰。藉這些試探，明辨也確實得益，因為它學會更精細地分辨美德與惡習。因此，經文又美好地接著說。
