V ers. 8. — Nunquid considerasti servum meum Job, quod 64 non sit ei similis super terram, vir simplex, et rectus, ac timens Deum, et recedens a malo? 66. Laudare Dei est bona dare, ac data custodire. — Quem divina inspiratio contra hostem roborat, hunc quasi in Satanae auribus Deus laudat. Laudare quip- pe ejus est, et prius bona concedere, et post conces- sa custodire. Sed antiquus hostis eo contra bonos gravius saevit, quo vallari eos divinae protectionis mu- nere conspicit. Unde et subjungens dicit:
Ver. 8. — Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him upon the earth, a man simple and upright, and fearing God, and departing from evil? 66. It is God's to give good things, and to guard the things given. — Him whom divine inspiration strengthens against the enemy, him God praises as it were in the ears of Satan. For it is His to praise, both first to grant good things, and afterwards to guard the things granted. But the ancient enemy rages the more grievously against the good, the more he perceives them to be fenced about by the gift of divine protection. Whence also, subjoining, he says:
