V ers. 4. — Et ibant filii ejus, et faciebant a con- vivia per domos, unusquisque in die suo: et mittentes vocabant tres sorores suas, ut comederent et biberent cum eis. 9. Substantia dividenda inter filios, eorum corda non divisit. — Solet inter fratres major substantia, discordiae fieri gravioris causa. O inaestimabilem pa- ternae institutionis laudem! Et pater dives dicitur, et filii concordes asseruntur. Et dum dividenda inter eos substantia aderat, corda tamen omnium indivisa cha- ritas replebat.
Verse 4. — And his sons went and made feasts in their houses, each on his own day: and sending, they called their three sisters, that they might eat and drink with them. 9. Though the substance was to be divided among the sons, it did not divide their hearts. — Greater substance among brethren is wont to be the cause of graver discord. O the inestimable praise of the paternal training! Both the father is called rich, and the sons are asserted to be of one accord. And while the substance to be divided among them was present, yet undivided charity filled the hearts of all.
第4節。——他的兒子按著日子各在自己家裡設擺筵席，就打發人去請了他們的三個姊妹來，與他們一同吃喝。九、雖然家業要在眾子中分配，卻未分裂他們的心。——弟兄之間更大的家業慣於成為更重紛爭的緣由。哦，父親教養那無可估量的稱讚！父親既被稱為富有，眾子又被斷言為同心合意。當那要在他們中間分配的家業擺在面前時，未分裂的仁愛卻充滿了眾人的心。
