100. DEi vitio mentis nostræ cibus. — Id est, £x illis choris nngelcis tendit oculum mentis ad contemplandam gloriam supernæ inajestalis, 1042 qua non visa adhuc esurit, qua tandem visa satiatur. Scriplum quippe est: fro eo quod liboravit anima ejus, videbit et saturabitur (Isai. 53, ii ). Et rursum: Beati qui esuriunt et sitiunt justitiam, quoniam ipsi saturabuntur (Matth, v, 6). Quis vero mentis nostræ cibus sit, indicatur aperte cum dicitur: Beati muudo corde, quo. niam ipsi Deum videbunt (Ibid., 8). Et quia, interpositjone corruptibilis carnis gravati, Deum sicut est videre non possumus, recte subjungitur:
God alone is the food of our mind. — That is: from those angelic choirs she directs the eye of her mind to contemplate the glory of the supernal majesty, for which, so long as it is not seen, she still hungers, and by which, when at length it is seen, she is satisfied. For it is written: 'Because his soul hath laboured, he shall see and be satisfied' (Isaiah 53:11). And again: 'Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled' (Matthew 5:6). But what the food of our mind is, is openly indicated when it is said: 'Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God' (ibid. 8). And because, weighed down by the interposition of corruptible flesh, we cannot see God as He is, it is rightly subjoined:
惟有神是我們心靈的食糧。——就是說：她從那些天使的班次中，把心眼引向默觀至上威嚴的榮耀，這榮耀只要尚未得見，她就仍然飢渴；一旦終於得見，她便得飽足。因為經上記著說：「祂勞苦的功效，祂必看見便心滿意足」（以賽亞書五十三章11節）。又說：「飢渴慕義的人有福了，因為他們必得飽足」（馬太福音五章6節）。至於我們心靈的食糧是什麼，當經上說「清心的人有福了，因為他們必得見神」（同上8節）時，便公開指明了。又因我們被必朽肉體的介入所壓，不能照神的本相看見祂，所以恰當地接著說：
