VERS. 23. — Digne eum invenire non possumus. 74. De Deo qui magnus est fortitudine, judicio et justitia, digne Mentire non possumus. — Et si invenire f jam eum possimus, non tamen digne, quia quidquid in illo sentimus ex fide est, f et non ex specie. Hoc tamen quod jam se invenisse considerat adjungit, dicens: IBID. — Magnus (orliludine et judicio et justitia, et enarrari non potest. Magnus quippe est fortitudine, quia fortem adversarium superat, et de domo illius vasa conLumeliæ auferens in misericordiae vasa permutat. Magnus judicio, quia etsi hic electos suos per adversa deprimit, eos quandoque in gloria aeternae prosperitatis extotlit.
(VERSE 23) 'We cannot find Him worthily.' (74) Concerning God, who is great in strength, in judgment, and in justice, we cannot worthily find Him. — And even if we could now find Him, yet not worthily, because whatever we perceive in Him is from faith, and not from sight. Yet this, which he considers he has now found, he adds, saying: (IBID.) 'Great in strength and in judgment and in justice, and He cannot be told forth.' Great indeed is He in strength, because He overcomes the strong adversary, and, taking away from his house the vessels of dishonor, changes them into vessels of mercy. Great in judgment, because although here He presses down His elect through adversities, He at some time exalts them into the glory of eternal prosperity.

Magnus justitia, quia etsi hic diu tolerat, quandoque tamen reprobos siut termino damnat. Bene autem subditur: Et enarrari non potest. I Qui enim sentiri digue non valet, quanto minus dici? Sed melius hunc utcunque dicimus, si sub considerationis ejus formidine admirando taceamus. Sequitur:
Great in justice, because although here He long endures, yet at some time He condemns the reprobate without limit. And it is well added: 'And He cannot be told forth.' For He who cannot worthily be perceived, how much less can He be spoken? But we better speak of Him in some measure, if, marveling under the awe of His consideration, we keep silent. There follows:
