954:1
ii. In carnalium corde Christus ultimus sedet, in corde justorum primus. - Quia in corde reproborum priori loco actiones carnis sunt, et posieriori actiones animae, in eorum procul dubio cogitationibus Cbristus non primus, sed ultimus sedet. Sed electi quique quia ea prae omnibus quae aeterna sunt cogitant, et posteriori cura, ac minima, si qua sunt temporalia disponunt, quibus et magistra voce Veritalis dicitur: Quærite primum regnum Dei et justitiam ejus, et hæc omnia adjicientur vobis (Matth. VI, 33), in carum corde Dominus primus sedet. Ubi apte praem.lUitur: Si voluissem ire ad eos. Quia enim, sicut scriptum est (Ephes. i, 5), omnia operatur secundum consilium voluntatis suæ;
11. In the heart of the carnal, Christ sits last; in the heart of the just, first. — Because in the heart of the reprobate the actions of the flesh are in the first place, and the actions of the soul in the later, in their thoughts, beyond doubt, Christ sits not first but last. But all the elect, because they think on those things which are eternal above all, and dispose with later care, and as least, whatever temporal things there be — to whom too it is said by the teaching voice of Truth: 'Seek first the kingdom of God and his justice, and all these things shall be added unto you' (Matt. 6:33) — in their heart the Lord sits first. Where fittingly it is prefixed: 'If I had a mind to go to them.' For because, as it is written (Eph. 1:5), he worketh all things according to the counsel of his will;
十一、在屬肉體之人的心中,基督坐在末位;在義人的心中,坐在首位。——因為在被棄絕之人的心中,肉體的行動居首位,靈魂的行動居其次,在他們的思念中,基督無疑不坐首位,而坐末位。但一切選民,因他們思念那超乎萬有、永恆之事,而以其次且最微小的掛慮安排一切暫時之事(若有暫時之事的話)——真理施教的聲音也對他們說:「你們要先求神的國和他的義,這些東西都要加給你們了」(太六33)——在他們心中,主坐首位。在此貼切地冠以:「我若有意到他們那裡去。」因為既如經上所寫(弗一5),他隨自己意旨所定的行作萬事;
954:2
non secundum nostrum meritum, sed quia ipse ita vult, visitatione sua nos Dominus illustrat. Itaque et cum vult venit: ct cum venerit, primus sedet, quia et adventus ejus in corde nostro gratuitus est, ct appetitus ejus desiderii, in cogitatione nostra æqualis caeteris desideriis non est. Sequitur:
not according to our merit, but because he himself so wills, the Lord illumines us by his visitation. And so both he comes when he wills, and when he has come, he sits first, because both his coming into our heart is gratuitous, and the desire of longing for him, in our thought, is not equal to other desires. There follows:
並非按我們的功德,而是因他自己如此意願,主便藉他的眷臨光照我們。因此,他既照自己所願而來,來了便坐首位,因為他進入我們心中乃是白白的恩,而我們思念中對他的切慕之願,也不與其他慾望同等。接著說:
