In quo, exposito capite xiv libri Job, a versu quinto, caput xv ex integro plerumque moraliter explicatur. [ Vet. et Rec. I. ] Mos justorum est tanto sollicitius praesentem vitam quam sit fugitiva cogitare, quanto studiosius noverint coelestis patriae bona aeterna per- pendere. Ex bis enim quae manentia intus aspiciunt, foris fugam rerum labentium subtilius attendunt. Unde beatus Job, cum de lapsu humani temporis sen- tentiam protulisset, dicens: Homo natus de muliere, brevi vivens tempore. Et rursum: Et fugit vetut um- bra, et nunquam in eodem statu permanet, adhuc de brevitate vitae ejus adjungit:
In which, chapter 14 of the book of Job having been expounded from the fifth verse, chapter 15 is for the most part explained entirely in the moral sense. It is the custom of the just to ponder how fugitive the present life is with all the more solicitude, in proportion as they have learned the more studiously to weigh the eternal goods of the heavenly homeland. For from those abiding things which they behold within, they more subtly attend outwardly to the flight of things that pass away. Whence blessed Job, when he had uttered a sentence concerning the fall of human time, saying: Man born of woman, living for a short time; and again: And he fleeth as a shadow, and never continueth in the same state, still adds concerning the brevity of his life:
