IBID. — Requies autem mensæ tuae erit plena pinguedine. 70. Quem eripit gratia, internæ satietatis delectatione replet. Requies mensae est refectio satietatis internae; quae pinguedine plena dicitur, d quia in aeternae voluptatis delectatione præparatur. Hujus mensæ epulas esuriebat Propheta, cum diceret: Satiabor dum manifestabitur gloria tun (Psal. xvi, 15). Hujus mensae pocula sitiebat, dicens: Sitivit anima mea e ad Deum vivum; 845 quando veniam, et apparebo ante faciem Dei (Psul, XLII, 5)? Eliu itaque tin beato Job temporalia verbera aeternorum volens retributione cppsolari, quod jure ei debebatur ex meritis, ex semelipso quasi gratuito promittit, dicens: Requie.
Ibid.—But the rest of thy table shall be full of fatness. 70. Whom grace rescues, it fills with the delight of inner satiety. The rest of the table is the refreshment of inner satiety; which is said to be full of fatness, because it is prepared in the delight of eternal pleasure. The Prophet hungered for the banquets of this table, when he said: 'I shall be satisfied when thy glory shall appear' (Ps. 17:15). He thirsted for the cups of this table, saying: 'My soul hath thirsted after the living God; when shall I come and appear before the face of God?' (Ps. 42:2). Elihu therefore, wishing to console blessed Job's temporal stripes by the recompense of eternal things, promises from his own self, as though gratuitously, what was owed to him by right from his merits, saying: But the rest
