V ers. 16. 279 Humectus videtur antequam ve- niat sol. 76. Nunc sanctus creditur hypocrita, sed Christo veniente iniquus apparebit. Saepe in sacro eloquio Dominus solis appellatione figuratur, sicut per pro- phetam dicitur: Vobis autem qui timetis nomen Do- mini, orietur sol justitiae ( Mal. iv, 2). Et sicut repulsi in judicio impii dicere Sapientiae libro describuntur: Erravimus a via veritatis, et lumen justitiae non luxit nobis, et sol non est ortus nobis ( Sap. v, 6). Ante so- lem igitur scirpus humidus cernitur, quia prius quam divina districtio in judicio b candeat, omnis hypocrita infusum se sanctitatis gratia ostentat;
Verse 16. He seems moist before the sun comes. 76. Now the hypocrite is believed to be holy, but when Christ comes he will appear wicked. Often in sacred speech the Lord is figured under the name of the sun, as it is said through the prophet: But to you who fear the name of the Lord, the sun of righteousness shall arise (Mal. 4:2). And as the impious who are repelled in judgment are described in the book of Wisdom as saying: We have erred from the way of truth, and the light of righteousness has not shone upon us, and the sun has not risen upon us (Wis. 5:6). Before the sun, therefore, the rush is seen to be moist, because before the divine strictness shines white in judgment, every hypocrite makes a show of himself as suffused with the grace of holiness;
第十六節。日頭未出以前，他看似滋潤。七十六、如今偽善者被信為聖潔，但當基督來臨時，他必顯為不義。在聖言中主常以日頭之名為表象，正如藉先知所說：但向你們敬畏我名的人，必有公義的日頭升起（瑪拉基書四2）。又如那些在審判中被拒的不虔者，在智慧書中被描述如此說：我們曾偏離真理之道，公義的光未曾照耀我們，日頭未曾向我們升起（所羅門智訓五6）。所以在日頭未出以前，蘆葦看似滋潤，因為在神聖的嚴厲於審判中皎然發白之前，每一個偽善者都自誇彷彿被聖潔的恩典所浸潤；

quasi virens aspicitur, quia justus aestimatur, honoris locum ob- tinet, de gloria sanctitatis pollet, a cunctis ei vene- ratio defertur, opinio laudis c extenditur. Scirpus ita- que iste in nocte humidus est; sole autem veniente siccatur, quia nimirum hypocrita in tenebris vitae praesentis sanctus ab omnibus creditur, sed cum di- strictus judex venerit, quam sit iniquus apparebit. Dicat ergo: Humectus videtur antequam veniat sol, quia virentem se nunc humanis oculis exhibet, sed in calore tunc divini judicii arescet. Sequitur:
he is beheld as though verdant, because he is esteemed righteous, holds a place of honour, is potent in the glory of holiness, veneration is paid to him by all, the report of his praise is extended. And so this rush is moist in the night; but when the sun comes it is dried up, because indeed the hypocrite is believed by all to be holy in the darkness of the present life, but when the strict Judge shall have come, it will appear how wicked he is. Let him say therefore: He seems moist before the sun comes, because he now shows himself verdant to human eyes, but then in the heat of the divine judgment he shall wither. There follows:
