I bid. — Unusquisque in die suo. 28. Juxta mensuram intelligentiae pascendi audite res. — Si ignorantiae obscuritas sine dubitatione nox cordis est, intellectus non immerito dies vocatur. Unde et per Paulum dicitur: Alius judicat diem inter diem, alius judicat omnem diem ( Rom. xiv, 5). Ac si aperte dicat: Alius quae lam nonnullis intermis- sis intelligit, alius vero omnia b intellectu possibilia ita ut sunt videnda cognoscit. Unusquisque ergo filius in die suo convivium exhibet, quia sanctus quis- que praedicator juxta mensuram illuminatae intelli- gentiae mentes audientium epulis veritatis pascit. In die suo Paulus fecerat convivium, cum dicebat:
The same. — 'Every one in his day.' 28. Hearers are to be fed according to the measure of their understanding. — If the darkness of ignorance is without doubt the night of the heart, understanding is not undeservedly called day. Whence also through Paul it is said: 'One judgeth one day above another day, another judgeth every day' (Rom. xiv, 5). As if he plainly said: One understands certain things, some being omitted; but another knows all things that can be seen by the understanding, just as they are. Each son therefore furnishes a feast on his own day, because each holy preacher, according to the measure of his enlightened understanding, feeds the minds of his hearers with the banquets of truth. On his own day Paul had made a feast, when he said:
