V ers. 26. - Omnes tenebrae absconditae sunt in ot- cultis ejus. 34. Omnia vitia in hypocritae mente sunt colligata. - Quamvis enim hypocrita actiones bonas in super- lici(??) o tendat, quaedam tamen in eo malorum ope- rum tenebrae apparent; sed tamen minus prodit in opere quam in ejus latet cogitatione. Nam qui cun- cta simul in effectu non explet, cuncta quae noceant in mente tacit(??)s tenet. Omnes ergo tenebrae: in oc- cultis ejus absconditae: dicuntur, quia etsi i(??) se ma(??)a omnia non ostendit, omnia tamen inferre proximis appetit. [ Vet. XIV, Rec. Verse 26.—All darkness is hidden in his secret places. 34. All vices are bound together in the mind of the hypocrite.—For although the hypocrite stretches out good actions on the surface, yet certain darknesses of evil works appear in him; but nevertheless less comes forth in the work than lies hidden in his thought. For he who does not fulfil all things at once in effect, holds silently in the mind all the things that would harm. All darkness therefore is said to be hidden in his secret places, because although he does not display all evils in himself, yet he longs to bring all upon his neighbors. [Old Div. XIV, Recent XVII.] But let it be subjoined by what retribution this mind, so reprobate, is to be smitten. It follows:
