V ers. 7. — Egressus igitur Satan a facie Domini, percussit Job ulcere pessimo, a planta pedis usque ad verticem. 32. Christus ab exordio mundi in suis percussus. — Nullus in hanc vitam electorum venit, qui non hujus hostis adversa sustinuit. Membra autem nostri Re- demptoris exstiterunt, etiam qui ab ipso mundi exordio, dum pie vivunt, crudelia passi 87 sunt. An non hujus membrum Abel se esse perhibuit, qui ejus mortem, de quo scriptum est, Sicut agnus coram tondente se obmutescet, et non aperiet os suum ( Isai. ʟiii, 7), non solum placens in sacrificio, sed etiam moriens tacendo signavit? Ab ipso itaque mundi exordio Redemptoris nostri corpus expugnare cona- tus est.
Verse 7. So Satan went forth from the face of the Lord, and struck Job with a most grievous ulcer, from the sole of the foot even to the crown of the head. Christ, from the beginning of the world, was struck in His own. No one of the elect comes into this life who has not sustained the adversities of this enemy. But the members of our Redeemer were also those who, even from the very beginning of the world, while they live devoutly, suffered cruel things. Was not Abel professed to be a member of His, who signified His death—concerning whom it is written, 'Like a lamb before the shearer he shall be dumb, and shall not open his mouth' (Isa. 53:7)—not only pleasing in his sacrifice, but also dying by keeping silence? From the very beginning of the world, therefore, he strove to assail the body of our Redeemer.
第七節。於是撒但從主面前退去，就擊打約伯，使他從腳掌到頭頂長毒瘡。基督從世界的起初，就在祂自己人身上受擊打。蒙揀選的人沒有一個進入此生而未曾承受這仇敵的敵對。而我們救主的肢體，也包括那些從世界的起初、當他們敬虔度日時便受殘酷之苦的人。亞伯豈不被表明是祂的肢體嗎？他預表了祂的死—論到這死，經上記著說：「祂像羊在剪毛的人手下無聲，並不開口」（賽五十三7）—他不僅在獻祭上蒙悅納，也藉緘默而死來作預表。所以，從世界的起初，他就竭力要攻擊我們救主的身體。

A planta ergo pedis usque ad verticem vul- nus intulit, c quia a puris hominibus inchoans, us- que ad ipsum caput Ecclesiae saeviendo pervenit. Bene autem dicitur:
He therefore inflicted a wound from the sole of the foot even to the crown of the head, because, beginning with mere men, he pressed on by his raging even to the very Head of the Church. And it is well said:
