V ers. 27. Ecce hoc, ut investigavimus, ita est. 63. Verba Eliphaz spiritaliter intelligenda sunt. —· Liquet profecto quod in his verbis nihil ab eo juxta superficiem dicitur, quia nimirum ante faciem non jacet quod investigatur. Qui ergo haec investigasse se indicat, quia in verbis exterioribus interiora quae- sierit demonstrat. Sed post cuncta ad stultitiam ja- ctantiae pervenit, quia protinus subdit:
Ver. 27. Behold, this is even so, as we have searched out (Job 5:27). 63. The words of Eliphaz are to be understood spiritually.—It is plainly clear that in these words nothing is said by him according to the surface, for surely that which is searched out does not lie before the face. He therefore who indicates that he has searched these things out shows that in the outward words he was seeking inward things. But after all this he falls into the folly of boasting, for he immediately adds:
