Cur Job a Deo de tot tanlisque interrogatus. — Beatus Job talia utrumne fecerit, Dommo interrogante, requiritur, qualia utique lacere non potest homo, ut ducO se ista facere non posse deprehendit, ad eum refugiat quem solum talia quia facere possit intelligit, atque ante oculos judicis sui magis potens appareat, si sua verius inlirlna cognoscat. Quod ergo mire a Domino iieri non ignufatur, de eo divina Job voce requiritur; diciturque ei:
This section embraces the exposition of the last eight verses of chapter thirty-eight, and as many of chapter thirty-nine, wherein especially the holy Doctor discourses at length, piously and learnedly, on the preaching of the Gospel. Why Job is questioned by God about so many and so great things. Blessed Job is asked whether he has done such things, the Lord questioning him — such things indeed as man cannot do — so that, perceiving that he cannot do these things by himself, he may flee to Him whom alone he understands to be able to do such things, and that he may appear more powerful before the eyes of his Judge, if he more truly acknowledges his own weaknesses. Since therefore it is not unknown that this is wondrously done by the Lord, Job is questioned concerning it by the divine voice; and it is said to him:
