Velut emenso enim magno mari, jam littus cernimus, et intentionis noslra) vcla deponentes, non eodem quo prius impetu ducimur, sed tamen adhuc ex impulsione pristini flatus illlus. 8 Quasi anxietatis nostræ ventus cecidit sei tamen ejus vis jam seipsa tranquillior usque ad stationem nos litoris impellit.
1. What is to be premised concerning this Book. — Since this is the last book of this work, and, the more difficult passages having been treated, what remains is less obscure, it is pleasing to run through this more indulgently and more relaxedly. For as though the great sea has been traversed, we now behold the shore, and, lowering the sails of our intent, we are not carried by the same impetus as before, yet still by the impulse of that former breeze. The wind, as it were, of our anxiety has fallen, yet its force, now more tranquil than itself, drives us on to the station of the shore.
一、關於本卷當先說明的。——既然這是本著作的末卷，而較艱深之處既已論述，所餘者便較不晦澀，那麼較寬鬆、較舒緩地掠過本卷便是可喜的。因為彷彿橫渡了大海，我們如今望見海岸，便降下我們用心的帆，不再以先前同樣的衝勢被帶動，然而仍藉那先前微風的推力前行。我們憂慮之風，彷彿已止息，然而其力如今比它自身更為平靜，將我們推向岸邊的泊處。

Igitur postquam fideli famulo Dominus Leviathan bostis ejus quam sit et fortis et callidus ostendit, dnm vires illius subtiliter fraudesque patefecit, beatus Job ad utraque respondit, dicens:
Therefore, after the Lord had shown to His faithful servant how strong and how cunning is his enemy Leviathan, when He had subtly laid open his powers and deceits, blessed Job answered to both, saying:
所以，主既向祂忠信的僕人顯明了他的仇敵利維坦何等強壯、何等狡猾，既精細地敞開了牠的權勢與詭詐，蒙福的約伯便對這兩者回答，說：
