1211:1
,fias. 15. — Auferetur ab impiis lux sua. 8. Cognitionem legis amiserunt, quod credere veri tati renuerint.
(Chap. 15). 'And their light shall be taken away from the impious.' 8. They lost the knowledge of the law, because they refused to believe the truth.—For while they refuse to believe the truth, they lose the knowledge of the law forever; and while they are proud of the law they received, they are surely blinded concerning the glory of their own knowledge. For it is written: 'Let their eyes be darkened, that they see not' (Ps. 68:24). And again it is written: 'Blind the heart of this people, and make their ears heavy' (Isa. 6:10). And again it is written: 'For judgment I am come into this world, that they who see not may see, and they who see may become blind' (John 9:39). And because they exalted themselves over the works of the law against the Author of the law, it is aptly added:
