V ers. 13. Ecce non est auxilium mihi in me. 27. Quia vires suas non sibi, sed Deo ascribit. Patet jam ad cujus spem percussi animus recurrat, cum in se sibi esse auxilium denegat. Sed quia infir- mum se in semetipso insinuat, ad majoris adhuc for- titudinis meritum, quomodo etiam a proximis desti- tuatur adjungat, ibid.: Necessarii quoque mei recesserunt a me. Sed ecce despectus exterius, intus solio judicii praesidet. Nam cum derelictum se asse- rit, protinus ad sententiam erumpit, dicens:
Verse 13. Behold, there is no help for me in myself. 27. Because he ascribes his powers not to himself, but to God. It is now plain to whose hope the mind of the smitten one has recourse, when it denies that there is help for itself in itself. But because he intimates that he is weak in himself, to the merit of a still greater fortitude, let him add how he is also deserted by those near to him, ibid.: My kinsfolk also have withdrawn from me. But behold, despised outwardly, he presides within on the throne of judgment. For when he asserts that he is forsaken, at once he bursts forth into a sentence, saying:
