Verse 15. — 'Let his companions dwell in his tabernacle, because he is not.' 22. Satan is said not to be, because he has lost being well. — That is, let the apostate angels move about in the mind of this apostate through their most wicked thoughts — his companions, indeed, who therefore already is not, because he has withdrawn from the highest Essence, and thereby, as his defect increases daily, he tends as it were toward not-being, into which he once fell from Him who truly is; and he is rightly said also not to be, because he has lost being well, although he has not lost the essence of his nature.
