I bid. — Et usque at inferos peccatum illius. 82. Peccatum quod hic non emendatur, irremissibile. — Peccatum quippe usque ad inferos ducitur, quod ante finem vitae praesentis per correctionem ad poe- nitentiam non emendatur. De quo videlicet peccato per Joannem dicitur: Est peccatum ad mortem non pro illo dico ut roget quis ( I Joan. v, 16). [ Vet. XXXI.] Peccatum namque ad mortem est peccatum usque ad mortem, quia scilicet peccatum quod hic nou corrigiter, ejus venia frustra postulatur. De quo ad- huc subditur V ers. 20. — Obliviscatur ejus misericordia.
In the same place. — And his sin reaches even unto hell. 82. The sin which is not here amended is irremissible. — For the sin is led even unto hell which before the end of the present life is not amended unto penitence by correction. Of which sin indeed it is said through John: There is a sin unto death; I say not that anyone should pray for it (1 John v, 16). For a sin unto death is a sin persisting even unto death, because, namely, the sin which here is not corrected—its pardon is asked in vain. Of which it is still subjoined: Verse 20. — Let mercy forget him.
同處。——他的罪直達陰府。八十二、在此不得修正的罪，是不可赦免的。——因為那在今生末了之前未藉糾正而得修正以致痛悔的罪，被引到陰府。論到這罪，正是藉若望所說：「有至於死的罪；我不說當為這罪祈求」（若望一書五章16節）。因為至於死的罪，就是持續直到死的罪，因為那在此不得糾正的罪，為它求赦是徒然的。論此還接著說：第20節——願慈悲忘記他。

Omnipotentis Dei misericordia oblivisci ejus dicitur qui omnipotentis Dei justitiae fuerit oblitus, quia quisquis eum nunc justum non timet, postea invenire non valet misericordem. Quae nimirum sententia non solum ei intenditur a qui verae fidei praedicamenta deserit, sed etiam ei qui in fide recta positus carna- liter vivit, quia ultio aeternae animadversionis non evaditur, utrum in fide an in opere peccetur. Nam etsi damnationis dispar est qualitas, cu’pae tamen quae nequaquam per poenitentiam tergitur nulla abso- lutionis suppetit facultas. Sequitur.
The mercy of almighty God is said to forget him who has forgotten the justice of almighty God, because whosoever now does not fear him as just, cannot afterwards find him merciful. Which sentence indeed is directed not only against him who forsakes the teachings of the true faith, but also against him who, set in right faith, lives carnally, because the vengeance of the eternal punishment is not escaped, whether one sins in faith or in deed. For although the quality of the damnation is unequal, yet for the fault which is by no means wiped away through penitence, no means of absolution is at hand. There follows:
