V ers. 17. — Et quasi meridianus fulgor consurget tibi ad vesperum. 33. Virtus renovatur in tentatione. — Fulgor quippe meridianus in vespere est virtutis renovatio in tenta- tione, ut repentino charitatis fervore mens vigeat, quae jamjamque lumen sibi gratiae occubuisse formi- dabat. Ver. 17. And as the noonday brightness shall it rise upon thee toward evening. 33. Virtue is renewed in temptation. For the noonday brightness in the evening is the renewal of virtue in temptation, so that by a sudden fervor of charity the mind may flourish, which just now feared that the light of grace had set for it. This Zophar still more subtly opens up, when he subjoins:
