V ers. 22. - Cum satiatus fuerit, arctabitur. 26. Divitum ex satietate angustia. –Prius quippe anhelat per avaritiam concupita congregare; et eum quasi in quodam ventre avaritiae multa congesserit, satiatus arctatur, quia dum anxiatur qualiter acqui- sita custodiat, ipsa eum sua satietas angustat. Divi- tis enim cujusdara uberes fructus ager attulerat, sed quia ubi eos tantos reponeret non habebat, dixit: Quid faciam, quia non habeo quo congregem fructus meos? Et dixit: Hoc faciam, destruam horrea mea, et majora aedificabo ( Luc. xii, 17). Qui ergo ex abun- dantia coangustatus dicebat: Quid faciam? quasi multo cibo pressus aestuabat.
Verse 22.—When he shall be filled, he shall be straitened. 26. The anguish of the rich arising from surfeit.—For first he pants through avarice to gather together the things he coveted; and when he has heaped up much, as it were in a certain belly of avarice, being filled, he is straitened, because while he is anxious how to guard what has been acquired, his very surfeit constrains him. For the field of a certain rich man had brought forth abundant fruits, but because he had not where to lay up so great a store, he said: «What shall I do, because I have no room where to gather my fruits?» And he said: «This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater» (Luke 12:17). He therefore who, straitened out of abundance, said, «What shall I do?» was as it were burning under the pressure of much food.
第二十二節——他飽足時反要受困迫。二六、富人因飽足而生的窘迫。——因為他先是憑貪婪喘息著要積聚所貪求之物；當他彷彿在某種貪婪之腹中堆積了許多之後，飽足了，卻反受困迫，因為他一面焦慮如何看守所得之物，那飽足本身便使他窘迫。有一個財主，田地出產豐盛，但因無處收藏這許多，就說：「我沒有地方收藏我的出產，怎麼辦呢？」又說：「我要這麼辦：把我的倉房拆了，另蓋更大的」（路十二17）。可見那因豐盛而受困迫、說「我要怎麼辦」的人，彷彿在許多食物的壓迫下焦灼難安。

Pensemus quot votis appetiit ut uberes fructus ager illius afferret. Ecce autem vota completa sunt, quia fructus uberes ager attulerat. Sed quia ad recondendum loca non suffi- ciunt, multiplicatus dives quid faciat ignorat. 0 an- gustia ex satietate nata! De ubertate agri angu ta(??)r animus avari. Dicens namque: Quid faciam? p(??) fecto indicat quia, votorum suorum affectibus pres- sus, sub quodam rerum fasce laborabat. Bene ergo dicitur: Cum satiatus fuerit, arctabitur. Quia mens avari, quiae prius ex abundantia requiem quaesierat, post ad custodiam gravius laborabat. Unde hic quoque adhuc subditur:
Let us weigh with how many wishes he longed that the field might bring forth abundant fruits for him. But behold, his wishes are fulfilled, for the field had brought forth abundant fruits. Yet because the places do not suffice for storing them, the rich man, multiplied in wealth, knows not what to do. O anguish born of surfeit! From the abundance of the field the soul of the covetous is straitened. For in saying, «What shall I do?» he plainly shows that, pressed by the affections of his own wishes, he labored under a certain burden of possessions. Well therefore is it said: When he shall be filled, he shall be straitened. Because the mind of the covetous, which before had sought rest out of abundance, afterward labored more grievously in the keeping of it. Whence here also it is still further added:
