3; Scripturœ sanctœ pabulo Chritus hos rhinocero tet nutriti -I Prsesepe boc loco ipsa Scriptura sacra non inconvenienter accipitur, in qua verbi pabulo anitnalia sancta satientur, de quibus per Prophetam dicitur: Animalia tua habitabunt in ea (Psal. LXVIII 11). Hinc etiam natus Dominus a pastoribus in præsepi repetitur (Luc. II, 46), quia ejus incarnatio, a in ea quae nos reiicit Prophetarum scriptura coguoscitur.
By the fodder of Holy Scripture these rhinoceroses of Christ are nourished. — By the manger in this place Holy Scripture itself is not inconveniently understood, in which the holy animals are satisfied with the fodder of the word, concerning which it is said through the Prophet: Thy animals shall dwell in it (Ps. 68:11). Hence also the Lord, being born, is found by the shepherds in a manger (Luke 2:46), because His incarnation is made known in the writing of the Prophets which restores us.

Rhinoceros itaque iste, videlicet omnis elatus in primordiis nascentis Ecclesiae, cum patriarcharum dicta, cum prophetarum mysteria, cum Evangelii arcana audiret, irridebat, quia tanto in praedicatorum praesepi claudi satiarique contempsetat, quanto b in voluptatibus propriis dimissus, desperationis suae campum tenebat. Quem superborum campum bene PauluS insinuat, dicens: Qui desperantes semetipsos tradiderunt impudicitiæ in opera tionem immunditia omnis, in avaritiam (Ephes. iv, 19). Tanto enim se quiaque in malis præsentibus latius relaxat, quanto pest hanc vitam se assequi bona ffterna desperat.
This rhinoceros therefore, namely everyone lifted up in the first beginnings of the nascent Church, when he heard the sayings of the patriarchs, the mysteries of the prophets, the secrets of the Gospel, mocked them; for he the more scorned to be shut up and satisfied in the manger of the preachers, the more, being let loose in his own pleasures, he held the field of his own despair. Which field of the proud Paul well intimates, saying: Who, despairing, have given themselves over to lasciviousness, unto the working of all uncleanness, unto covetousness (Eph. 4:19). For each one relaxes himself the more widely in present evils, the more he despairs of attaining the eternal goods after this life.

Sed omnipotens Deus diu quidem rhinocerotem hunc per pravae e voluptatis campum vagantem pertulit, et tamen cum voluit, repente ad suum præsepe religavit, ut vitae pabUlum bene clausus accipiat, ne vitam fuhditus tnaie liber amittat. Ecce enim jam cernimus quod potentes hujus sæculi, ejusque principes prædicamenta dominica libenter audiunt, constanter legunt, d passimque a praesepi noa exeunt, quia præcepta Ddi, quas aut legendo, aut audiendO cogoscunt, nequaquam vivendo transcendunt; Sed ad verb' pabulum quasi clausi stare æquanimiter toleratU, ut edendo et permanendo pinguescant.
But almighty God long indeed endured this rhinoceros wandering through the field of depraved pleasure, and yet, when He willed, suddenly bound him back to His own manger, that being well shut in he might receive the fodder of life, lest, being wickedly free, he should utterly lose life. For behold, we now discern that the mighty of this age and its princes willingly hear the Lord's precepts, steadfastly read them, and everywhere do not depart from the manger, because the commands of God, which they come to know either by reading or by hearing, they by no means transgress in their living; but they endure with equanimity to stand as though shut in at the fodder of the word, that by eating and abiding they may grow fat.
但全能的神確實長久忍受這犀牛在敗壞逸樂的曠野中遊蕩，然而當祂願意時，卻突然把牠繫回自己的馬槽，好叫牠被妥善關住而得著生命的糧料，免得牠邪惡地放蕩自由而全然喪失生命。看哪，我們如今看見這世代的權貴及其君王，甘心聽從主的訓誨、堅定地誦讀，並處處不離開馬槽，因為他們無論藉誦讀或聽聞所認識的神的誡命，在生活上絕不違越；反倒安然忍耐，如同被關住般站在道的糧料旁，好叫他們藉著吃、藉著留守而得肥壯。

Quod cum Deo agente conspicimus, quid eliud quam rhinocerotem hunc ad praesepe morantem videmus?,Quia vero poet acceptum pabulum praedicacionis rhinoceros iste fructum debet estendere operis, recte subjungitur:
When we behold this being done by God's working, what else do we see but this rhinoceros lingering at the manger? But because after receiving the fodder of preaching this rhinoceros ought to show forth the fruit of work, it is rightly subjoined:
